About the talk

Original introduction (English translation)

Music expresses emotions and conveys ideas. It may be the most elusive of the arts: it lives while we hear it, yet vanishes in the very same moment. Although music so often expresses emotion, the process of composition is not itself based on emotion; it has rational, even simple rules. What makes popular music popular? What distinguishes popular from classical music? Why have so many composers loved mathematics, and why do so many scientists love classical music?

The event listed on the original page took place on 28 April 2016 at the University of Dunaújváros. It was advertised as a talk in Hungarian and English.
